10 pc Bucket of Wayfare Taverns Famous Buttermilk Brine Organic Fried Chicken. roasted garlic, crisp herbs, lemon
A lemon-lime soda made with real cane sugar and bottled in Mexico.
The same great taste made with only pure cane sugar and served in a bottle.
My birthday was a total riot—think food so good it deserved its own fan club, service so slick they could’ve moonlighted as secret agents, and an atmosphere so vibey it practically had its own theme song! We appreciated our waitress was the best ;-)
I had an amazing lunch at Wayfare Tavern’s new location on Pine street today with two colleagues who are also in the hospitality industry. They have made a more than successful move to their new space. The food was exceptional, service exceptional, and pricing reasonable. We sat in a very comfortable banquet near the hotline and enjoyed the show. The restaurant is gorgeous and features both indoor and outdoor seating. We’ll definitely be back again!
Wayfare Tavern is a great brunch place in San Francisco, in a historic building that was saved from the 1906 earthquake. It's a two-story restaurant with a really cool interior design - it's a mix of an old tavern-like restaurant with an older classic look. The dish to order is the Mary's Organic Fried Chicken. You'll see every table around you ordering this dish. It's a buttermilk brine and is the perfect level of crispiness with some waffles underneath. Be sure to make a reservation weeks in advance, because they're always booked, especially on the weekends. Parking is horrific in this area - you will probably need to find a parking garage nearby.
Dined for lunch and were lucky to visit before they moved to their new location. Great friendly service, rustic old school tavern vibe (at least in this location). Deviled eggs were great to start with. A Yorkshire pudding was served instead of bread which was a nice surprise. Fried Chicken was excellent, moist and a perfect ratio of breading . Tavern burger was very moist and flavorful. Side of cauliflower was excellent.
The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the beef cheek stroganoff and a burger. The burger was perfectly cooked to medium, incredibly juicy, and made from freshly prepared meat. The beef cheeks in the stroganoff was perfectly cooked, melting in your mouth without even needing to chew. The sauce had a subtle mustardy flavor. They also offer free bread and butter, and honestly, the bread was incredible possibly the best part of the meal :) The place has a cozy but can be quite noisy since the tables are close to each others. We walked in and got the only available table, so I’d recommend making a reservation. The service was quick and efficient.
Nice country-style decor and food was excellent as was the atrentive service. The burger with the egg was juicy and flavorful and the fried chicken was crisp and light on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside. Shoestring and mashed potatoes were both excellent as well. The extra surprise was the house-made hot sauce which has the right amount of zip without being overpowering and a touch of sweetness. You have to request it. Put a few drops on a spoon of mashed potatoes, very tasty. Dessert was also very good with the donuts being the highlight. Warm freshly made with lemon vanilla whipped cream. The chocolate roll cake was very good as well. Surprisingly, the only disappointment was the coffee which was on the weak side and not that flavorful. I was hoping for a stronger Americano to go with the excellent donuts. Overall, an excellent experience and worth a trip to SF's financial district.
First time to this establishment and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere is dark and cozy, service was first rate and the food was delicious! Don’t miss the fried chicken and the donuts for dessert. Can’t wait to go back!
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat and recommend as the food, drink and staff are good and friendly. I had the Caesar salad with fried chicken which was great. We started with their puffy bread(egg based) and the chicken salad was flavorful
